How often do I
workout with a personal trainer?
If you are already very familiar with
the particular type of training you
desire, perhaps all you need is for your
trainer to create a new program for
you. It is wise to constantly change
the stimuli you are sending to your
body. If your body gets too accustomed
to your exercise habits, there will no
longer be any progression. CHANGE is
one of the most important factors in a
fitness regiment. If this is the case,
you would ask your trainer to customize
a new program for you. You would work
on this program for a specified amount
of time and then when you are ready for
more, you would revisit your trainer.
On the other hand, if you are totally
new to fitness and exercise training,
you will need to spend more time with
your trainer at the beginning. Your
trainer needs to educate you. They need
to teach you the exercises and show you
how to move your body correctly. This
is not something that can be learned in
one day. In my experience I have found
that first timers have a very hard time
REMEMBERING all the exercises. They
need the trainer there for guidance to
verify their posture, their movements
and to remind them which exercise is
what and exactly what muscles they are
working. So, if this is your situation,
you may need to work out a plan with
your trainer. For example, you could
tell your trainer that you would like to
learn how to work out on your own...
Would it be possible to have them TEACH
you the complete routine in let's say 4
or 5 sessions? Here's a suggestion.
Don't do all 4 or 5 sessions all at
once. You will be overwhelmed with too
much information. Train with your
personal trainer once or twice, then
give yourself time to try it on your
own. Then in a week or two have them
come back to see how you are doing.
Lastly, if you would prefer to work
with a trainer on a regular basis and
have the means to do it ,terrific!
Working with a trainer by your side will
ensure that you are working properly and
efficiently. Your trainer is there to
motivate you when you need that extra
push. Most importantly, they will be
there to monitor your improvement on a
regular basis. Being able to
consistently work with a personal
trainer will form a relationship and
allow the trainer to get to know your
body, thus making it easier for them to
really customize your workout JUST for
you.
What is the
first thing I will be expected to do?
You will be asked to fill out a
Health History questionnaire and talk
about your personal fitness goals and
desires. The
information you provide serves as a
safety precaution. It will additionally
help asses your physical capabilities
and lend in knowledge of how to achieve
your personal fitness faster by
streamlining the design of your exercise
program. Beyond that expect to learn
about your body and love feeling great
about doing doing something pro-active
about your health and fitness. You will
feel GREAT about yourself and want to
adapt healthy habits in all aspects of
your life.
How soon do I expect to see results?
You can expect to begin feeling good
about yourself from the very start.
You made the choice to being doing
something positive about your health
which in turn you will be rewarded with
an increased energy level almost immediately. What you
put into your workout is what you will
get out of it. Typically a client
who trains 2-3 times per week in
addition to doing cardiovascular
activity on their own will see a
noticeable difference within 6-8 weeks.
What if I need to cancel a training
appointment?
Unexpected things come up in our
lives and sometimes cancelations cannot
be avoided. When working with many
client schedules it is important for me
to schedule sessions in advance this way
everyone can be accommodated with plenty
of advanced notice to schedule daily
life accordingly. This is why I have a
strict 24 hour cancelation policy (less
than 24 hour cancelation will be a
charge for the session)- my policy can
actually be motivation to train on a day
when you just don't feel like it. Time
is important to all of us and if I can
re-schedule I will do my best, however
please understand it is also my
livelihood.
